Alsace 47°52'46"N 7°24'30"E | I have read a report on somebody in Europe (France I think but am not sure) attaching a set of floating rotary mower blades driven by hydraulic motors to the head. Enables to harvest with much higher stalks, chops down the stalks under the head, less HPs are needed because of lower material flow through the machine, and rotary blades take less HP than flail mower. Machine can do more acres/hour this way.
Ok, it's still a plain combine harvester ;)
On the other hand, have heard things go another way in Canada: 2 steps:
- mow and let dry
- collect and thresh
