jocoshar23 - 8/6/2014 19:32 +1. And no one ever talks about how the Mississippi anymore is a shipping canal with levees that have damned the river up and don't allow it to naturally filter out nutrients.



No one talks about how much soil gets cut out of river beds every time you get a high water event either.


Rivers change course all the time and continually widen/deepen themselves.


Local river that set a new record flood level this June widened itself a whole lot.     Its a little river that now has a river bed 200-300' wide.    

The dirt that the river removed from the bank is now somewhere in the Gulf.
