If your 8220 is greenstar ready and autotrac ready all you will need is a mobile processor, display, keycard with autotrac activation, and a receiver. The tractor controllers communicate on a CCD network, the greenstar system and autotrac system communicate on a can system. The greenstar harness does hook to the CCD to communicate with the tractor to talk to the rest of the controllers on the network besides the steering controller. All autotrac systems communicate on the 2.5 volt can system. Gen II receivers are dual can meaning they will work on both the 2.5V and the deere 4/5V. But you will need a TCM in those to run autotrac, which is not dual can and it will only operate on a 2.5V CAN. All new displays (originals) and processors today are dual CAN. The new ITC receivers are 2.5V only. The GS2 is also 2.5V only. If you are looking at some used displays you can tell what system they run by looking at the serial number. The 6th digit identifies the component, 0= 4/5V 1= 2.5V 2=dual can . That being said some of the older displays have been updated to dual can and most of them should have a sticker on them to identify them as dual can. For most applications all you have to worry about is that it is 2.5V, some of the older combines with the side mount moisture sensor are 4/5V but they can be upgraded to dual can so you can put a ATU in them. Also there are some older planters and air seeders out there that are 4/5V. Those would be the only situations you may have some compatibility issues. You can run them on there own 4/5V harness and display or you can use a can bridge to be able to hook up to a 2.5 volt autosteer tractor. If all you are after is autotrac there isnt much to worry about, there is alot more dual can and 2.5V stuff out there then 4/5V stuff.
