Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | The sections do not have to be the same size although they usually are. When you setup a configuration the system will assume that all sections have the same number of rows. However you can change this.
We have a customer who first setup their 36 row 20" planter into 12-3 row sections. This planter had individual boxes and they really wanted to plant 8 rows of refuge corn and 28 rows of trait corn. They wanted to use the split planter mapping concept. The system would not allow this 8-28 combination.
What they did was setup the planter in the following row sections: 3,3,2,4,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3 which totals 36 rows. They moved a row from the third section from the left to the fourth section. The system would then allow them to do split planter in the 3+3+2= 8 and the 4+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3=28 pattern that they desired.
Of course they needed to move the air line to the air clutch that was moved so it came off of section 4 rather than section 3 like it did originally.
Ag Leader normally recommends staying with wider row sections to avoid the surprise of rows shutting off inapproriately. A one row section is quite narrow.
