Subject: RE: GPS Steering on Steep Ground

Boyden, Iowa Sioux County
I do use GPS autopilot steering on sloping ground that is contoured and terraced. I use Trimble's TrueTracker system which does have an antenna mounted on the planter/strip till applicator, this is in addition to the antenna on the tractor. I used it last spring to plant and this past fall to strip till fertilizer into the rows. I use RTK so the accuracy and repeatability are good.

If you do a search of this precision forum for implement drift or some variations of that you will find discussions about mounting the antenna on the implement rather than the tractor. I think most of the thought is that it will not work to control the tractor by mounting the antenna on the implement. I do not remember anyone saying that they had been successful in trying that.
