Subject: keylogger protection

I've been hearing about the dangers of keylogger programs getting installed on peoples systems to record and steal personal data for future profit.

I have norton internet security enabled and pay a yearly fee to keep it updated.

I use the internet to order things once in a while. I also pay a few bills online to save postage cost. Have even used Ebay a few times.

Is norton protecting me from the keylogger threat or am I just donating money to symantec corp?

Is there a safe way to use the internet and protect the data on your computer without costantly upgrading or installing new programs and fees?

It just seems we become more vulnerable everyday to risk of information theft. Is the convenience of the internet not worth the risk of using it?
