Subject: tower gear boxes different

My experience is that they make different gear ratios for pivot tower boxes.

Some pivots can make a circle in 7 hrs at 100% setting, others will take 24 hrs. Could this be a possiblility? Also what about tire size?

You will find that after 1 circle that the ground is packed down and it will be consistant on speed in either direction.

The best way to know how much water is applied is to test or know your well rating. Then if you have the proper pressure on both ends of the pivot, ect. You are o.k. A pivot can loose 10 psi on a 1320 ft system from the center to the end.

If I know I am pumping 800 gpm and I know I have the correct nozzles on the pivot the rest is simple math.

135 acres irrigated with the pivot on a 360 degrees. It takes me 4 days to make a circle.

4 days x 24 hrs. = 96 hrs x 60 min. = 5760 min. x 800 gpm = 4,608,000/ 135 acres = 34, 133 gallons / 27,154 gallons need on 1 acres to equal 1 inch of water = 1.257 inches of water per acre.
