Subject: Question about new crop basis

Central, IL
How do you protect yourself when the elevators only will let you sell on a basis contract? Basis here is 50 cents on new corn and $1.00 on new beans. IMO you would have to be nuts to lock that in not knowing what the futures will be. Puts are not cheap and hedging is too risky. I have used the futures before but I really dont want to get involved with this much volitility. Using revenue based crop insurance is one way to put in a floor. Are there any other ways? Already have alot sold but would like to sell more. TIA
