Subject: RE: grain truck motor question

We've got a C-65 with a 366 and a 5x2 transmission with a 1,600 gallon stainless steel tank on it. The truck does okay with water in the tank but with 32% you'd better just leave the rear end in low and when you get out in the field you don't even think about taking off in anything other than granny gear. A 600 bushel load of corn would be about twice as much as our 1,600 gallon tank and I don't think a 366 is going to do very well with that much weight. I did change our 366 from the stock Holley carb to a 600 cfm Edelbrock last spring and that seemed to make a noticable increase in low end power but I still don't think it's enough engine for a tandem axle truck.
