Subject: RE: John Deere VRT questions

I ran a demo unit last fall for a bit. You refreshed my memory when you referred to the three selectable positions that you can run the tractor in. What were those? Heavy field use, light field use, and a highway mode? Do you know what exactly the tractor does differently in each of those modes? Also, what would happen if someone were to run down the highway (with the selector in highway mode) and then pull into the field, drop their impliment in the ground and forget to switch it to the heavy field tillage mode? How would the tractor react and would it be hard on anything? Now I know that you can set your speed and from there the computer adjusts your transmission and engine rpm for optimum performance. Is there any way of setting your engne rpm at a certain point and then contol your speed without the rpms changing? For instance if you wanted to keep the tractor running at 1500rpm all the time even if you are stopped, can you do that?
