Depends on what kind of 5th wheel you have.

If you have a "double jaw" Holland which is common for many trucks, than there is a nut and a couple washers on the front side of it. Hook it onto a trailer and loosen the nut until the washers are loose.

If you have a "single jaw" Holland which I know for sure is common for Peterbilts and maybe Kenworths, there is a bolt underneath. This single jaw 5th wheel appears to be shorter and wider than the standard double jaw. I'm not sure if you have to loosen it or tighten it.......I'll have to ask my brother, he adjusted ours a month or so ago and I can't remember which way he went with it but it is a PITA because you have to unhook to adjust it.
