Sounds like Chipotle execs think its ok for a fast food retailer to make a profit, but its not ok for a farmer/rancher to try to make a profit. While its tempting to stoop to their level with attack ads, in the long run it would only hurt the real food producers...farmers/cattlemen/etc. Perhaps as others have said Chipotle execs think this is just an opportunity to inform consumers about where their food comes from. OK, Chipotle should start the discussion by showing consumers a list of the ingredients for each item on their menu, what producers were paid on average for those same ingredients, what those items cost Chipotle, the cost of labor, cost of overhead, and Chipotle's profit on that item(assuming that like any business they're not in business to lose money). Certainly they have all that info at their fingertips except for maybe the average price producers are paid and that should be readily available by asking USDA. Producers have nothing to hide....How about it Chipotle? I'm sure consumers would like to know.
