Stearns County, Minnesota | The 1946 A, if it came from the factory, with a rockshaft, would have been a powerlift. No power beyond for a remote cylinder, to use on a pull -type implement. Most implements had a mechanical lift at that time, that worked on the wheels of the implement. In 1947, John Deere came with a Power Trol, which supplied the pump and the hydraulics for the rockshaft, for front mount cultivators. For the implement to have a remote cylinder lift, you had to switch the ends in the Power Trol, which routed the oil to the remote cylinder, for lifting the implement. When the remote cylinder was being used, the rockshaft was inoperable, because the oil was routed to the remote cylinder. The 1946 could have been updated with the Power Trol, because it would fit on any tractor that had a power lift. https://www.google.com/search?q=power+trol+john+deere&tbm=isch&imgil=_IFjXEeJgFBZBM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcT7tuM9qLuef6YIf_3Yx4xNtXQNlLnX3AetC8pbjMdhlVAjq9Xg2Q%253B640%253B480%253BTuoAK6Dl-V4WeM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.jd40.com%25252Fpowr_trol.htm&source=iu&usg=__flxYpQMOXOZ7zcj6GWz3MEfyGBk%3D&sa=X&ei=90T-UuvAEqLbyQGymoGgBA&ved=0CEsQ9QEwAw&biw=1067&bih=479#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=_IFjXEeJgFBZBM%253A%3BTuoAK6Dl-V4WeM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.jd40.com%252FPTPlugs.JPG%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.jd40.com%252Fpowr_trol.htm%3B640%3B480
