Subject: Re: 2001 Chevy 3500 dmax

Had a 2001 HD2500 dmax w/alison tranny. The biggest thing to consider is the injectors. These model yr trks used the LB7 motor, and one of the concerns is with "when" the injectors fail and pump fuel into the oil. GM does pay to replace with new updated injector lines, but what is the effect of running duluted oil (engine wear)? I wouldn't be afraid of the truck, just find out when or if the lines were replaced. If they weren't then keep an eye out for increase oil levels on your dipstick. Ed's post with a price sounds high for this model year and the miles, I'd guess more like 13500 - 15000. That's what dealers have them listed around here for. For more info go over to the diesel page. http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/.com. The guys over there can do a better job advising/opinionizing then I.
Don't be afraid of them, I'm on my 3rd DMAX and haven't any real problems except the injectors of my former '01.
Good luck.
