The NH twin rotors have always used auger style infeed elements and a tapered cone. They pull the material right away from the feeder chain.

The AFX rotor is basically the same auger flighting idea and appears to be the same spiral angle to the feeding elements as the NH rotors have. CIH used to use large paddles with a curve to them commonly called "elephant ears". The AFX design comes in the older design machines as well. Looking at the introduction date of the AFX rotor, it was released after the NH buyout of CIH stock.

At the discharge end the NH machines use an aggresive discharge beater over an open grate. The beater throws the straw over the rear of the shoe and into the chopper unless the block off door is swung forward. Then the straw material is windrowed.

The 8010's that I have seen have a discharge beater with knives on it to internally chop the straw. Then they have hyd drive spreader fans mounted above the rear area to spread the chopped material.
