Yes it could very well be wired 220. I don't reccomend it, but I occasionally use a 110 type plug on 220 applications ( I then use a sharpie marker to write 220 on the motor).
Pull the cover off of the motor box and see if there is a wiring diagram on the inside of the cover. If the wires are numbered, you usually swap the #5 and #8 if I remember right.
