The screen size and price. The 250 can save maps to it. The 250 is $1500 and then if you go with the upgrade reciever (6-8" accuracy) then its $1800-$2100 depending on the dealer. I looked at getting a 250 but my NH dealer has a sale on the 500 25% off so I am going for a 500. The 250 will run ez steer or auto boom but not both at once with great accuracy. In the future if Trimble comes out with more add ons like the ez steer and boom they will be for the 500 and not the 250. The 250 would be good for some one who just wants a light bar with color screen and mapping. This is what my Trimble rep told me about the EZ guide systems.
