I would use the network. The $1200 a year seems a little steep though. We're working on a network right now and i think we'll be around $1000. The nice thing is that if there is a problem there no out of pocket expense for you and you'll have better repetablity versus moving you're own base around. Also look into AutoFarm VS Trimble.
