The height switch for the Rate Controller is used to turn your painting on and off so you don't plant in areas that you already covered. If it shut-off correctly at the headland where I am assuming you made your headland passes first, it should shut-off correctly in the middle of the field when crossing areas that you already planted.

The rate controller doesn't communicate with non-Deere planters, it will not automatically document population rates from a Kinze. The GS2 will give accuracte acreage as the rows turn on/off from your painted coverage map.
