Subject: Fertility Program with a Soil Warrior Strip Till Machine

SC MN
Hello, Just wondering who all is using a soil warrior strip till machine and what your fertility program is for Corn/Pinto Beans. Located in NE ND and SC MN.

1. Yield goals for corn are 180-200 bu/ac and 2000-2500#/ac for pinto beans.

2. Soils range from sandy loam-silt loam, CEC's around 20-30, pH 6.5-7.5.

2. This was my first fall with the machine and here's what my fall fertilizer program looked like.

50% of N needs as ESN
50 # potassium sulfate
75# soft rock phosphate
100# calcium sulfate
25# micromerge (Zn, Mn, B & S micronutrient & humic acid product from Helena)
15# Kmag
50# AMS
11# Elemental S
2# copper sulfate

3. The spring pass will just be urea and MAP and maybe some potash on certain fields. I'm concerned with how much of this mix (especially the Urea portion) I can safely put in the zone without hurting the corn roots.

4. Planter will apply 3-5 gal of 6-24-6 nutriflow, 1 qt of Zinc, 1 Qt of micronutrient mix and Ascend.

5. Not set up for sidedressing so I will need to get all my fertilizer on during my spring passes.

Thanks for your input.
