Subject: Wilson trailer traps

Have a 99 Wilson hopper bottom, on one of the traps where the long cog is welded to the bottom side of the steel plate that moves when you crank open the door the weld has broken loose. What has caused this to break. The doors have gotten hard to open, I was thinking about taking the doors out and cleaning with a wire brush the top side of the door where the grain rest on it and the bottom side where it slides back and forth on the angles, then coating those areas where there is friction with slip plate. Will the slip plate stay on very long and will that help to make it easier to open.
