Subject: RE: Companion Cropping: The Next Big Thing

Rolla, ND
Why massive inputs on sunflower? Doesn't take much N to grow good crop, doesn't respond to P unless field is low and never heard of a response to micros. Maybe in Australia.

Are you growing oils or confections? Just wondering if you would be growing a good crop of lygus so you would have bitter seed problems.

People plant some sunflowers in their mixes of cover crop up here. They are tiny and I kind of wonder why sometimes.
