I still run a 4030 on my mix wagon and it has been pretty dependable. It now has around 9000 hours. Engine overhauled at 7500 hours but the quad range has not been touched. I occasionally use it for raking hay, running the pit pump, and on the auger. Some guys in the area have added a turbo to theirs and that makes it a little better for field work. Otherwise it does not have a lot of low end torque.

I had two 4040's and they were a lot more tractor than the 4030. Both had the quad range also and were very dependable too (never touched the engine or trans in either of those). I used them for planting, baling and pulling forage wagons mainly but also pulled a plow a time or two along with some other field work.
