<p>They protect them more then nothing, but you will still see stubble damage. We have a set of 73-44s with better then 7000 hours on them. Stubble damage is significant but it hasn't limited the tire life. The 650-65R38 duals give equal flotation, cost alot less, and don't run on the row, but they will plug up in certain mud and leave you shut down.</p><p> </p><p>If you are talking 73-44-32's, I don't think you would have any trouble at all getting a replacement "here" as that is a very common combine tire.  The newer 76-50-32 might be a little harder to get in a hurry, but still I bet you could have one by driving a couple hundred miles or waiting a day or so.  </p><p>Working on them isn't much of a problem for someone who knows what they are doing and has the equipment.  I wouldn't want to try to change one with a pair of screwdrivers and a hammer.   </p>
