Subject: RE: Pioneer wants your data

West Union, Illinois

Alfred - 7/11/2006 13:04 Pioneer is one of the few companies that will publish results win or lose!!!

Perhaps, but the results are no more valid than the raw data.  And after talking with several farmers over the years I am hesitant to accept Pioneer rep's raw data.  It pains me to say that, and I hope things have changed over the last couple years, but I remember a farmer telling me the published data didn't seem to match his records.

We produced seed corn for Pioneer for several years and I have nothing but praise for the folks on the production side.  But the sales side has irritated me time and again.

On a side note, I am having more and more trouble trying to make plot comparisons.  With the almost unlimited number of trait combinations and the speed with which a variety goes from a "hot new number" to "one of the things they dropped this year" I have difficulty working up valid comparisons.
