This guessing what the OP is after is a little silly I think. But while we are at it, Mapshots EasiSuite should be added to aggers list. I agree that GIS software under a grand is cheap. The problem is that the price of the software is only a piece of the total ownership cost. Add in the cost of training, setting up the system, figuring out how to use it, upgrades, etc. and the total cost balloons.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it at all, just think of the full cost.

If truly all the OP needs is some GIS field boundries, he is probably better off working with someone with one of the above mentioned packages to do it for him. Heck if he is in one of the areas where FSA has done the boundaries already, I could have this done in a couple hours, probably for less than the annual update costs of the above software. Now if the OP wants a lot more out of a system, then it may make sense to consider buying the software and bringing this in-house.
