Hillsboro, AL

midwest - 2/5/2008 07:35 My line of thinking is this: I'm planting with a 40 foot planter using auto-steer. The auto-steer is always going to think it is 40 feet from the center of the first recorded line. Why won't an Auto-steer/Insight/TruCount system be thinking the same thing?

It is still dependent upon the accuracy of your GPS source. It can "think it is 40 feet from the center of the first recorded line all it wants to think". But the accuracy of the signal will determine if that is where it really is. With a low grade WAAS receiver it might be 5 meters off in either direction. With a high quality guidance grade WAAS receiver you will probably be within 1 meter all the time.
