Subject: 1970 John deere 3020 diff lock HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1970 John deere 3020 side console with 5000 hrs on it that I got used but any ways, I found out that the old differential lock valve was stuck good and couldn't be free up so I got a nother differential lock and it work great 1 time but after that 1 time use it would blow the bottom fitting out of the differential lock valve out. So I ask my cuzion that use to work at john deere on why is it doing this and he said that the valve could be bad but I told him that it was work great the 1st time and said it works fine with the lines off but soon as you put the lines back on and start it up the differential will not work, it would get stuck and wouldn't move down to lock the differential in. So I am wonder can I plug off the lines to the differential and leave it that way ? with out differential. Because the guy I got it from never used it at all or tried because the foot pedal was broke off the differential and that is how it may have got stuck. Because I am going to sell it maybe first or paint it up then sell it.

I douno if some of you keep in touch with me or follow me on here but some time ago I had a 4020 I ask about how to add a 2nd hour meter to it and a lot said to sell it as is and get out when you still can on it will the up date is I overhaul it and painted it , add a new 4.0 hydraulic pump ( the 4.0 pump was cheaper then rebuilt or getting a new 3.4 and was set and ready to go ) so here she is ( you may have seen her in tractorhouse or ebay

You can just cap off the diff lock with no ill effects, but I am sure it is your valve. There is nothing in the locking diff that could cause your problem. The diff lock valve is just an on/off for oil to the diff. My thought is your replacement valve has sat for a few years not used and when you used it the first time it worked, then it gave out.......

Thanks. I think I may just cap off the lines, sense they don't make any new differential lock valve.
