| As a row crop guy, I am one who got lured into assisted steering by dreams of nice, straight corn rows. But I think I've stumbled into the perfect "startup" for a new package: mow some hay.
Think about it for a minute: you can see exactly what's going one...no waiting for rows to emerge. No one is waiting at the gate with a planter while you tweak, as there would be in a tillage application. And chances are, your dealer is not as busy during hay season as he is during planting and harvest, in case you do have a problem. If you make a mistake, just re-mow, or at worst it will only be there for 4 weeks.
There are advantages to mowing with assisted steering: no point rows, and you can cut across the field anywhere you want. Easier to rake and bale straight rows, even without guidance. If you don't have hay yourself, I'll bet it wouldn't be hard to find a neighbor who would let you pull their mo-co for a day.
