I think it is a general thought that a front assist tractor will steer more accurately than a 2wd. The front tires driving make the tractor drive straighter. On the other hand we do have some customers running 2wd tractors with autopilot and are very satisfied. Depends on the ultimate accuracy you are looking to acheive.

I tend to think a tracked tractor is the best autosteering tractor with a 2wd/front assist somewhere in the middle and a 4wd tractor being the trickiest because of the articulation. If you make a 4wd tractor too aggressive it will shake the life right out of the operator.

There are people happy with auto steer running on all types of tractors, just depends on your expectations.
