Kearney, Nebraska | I had been looking for a spot to contract 25,000 bu of corn taking me to my CRC guaranteed bushels. ( I have been contracting 2008 crop for over a year, scale up) After yesterdays crash i decided the partys over and contracted the 25000 for $4.60 Feb 09 delivery. When I did this in mid afternoon, I had no idea the Dow closed up 293 pts. The mistake I made was not waiting till this morning to see the opening call. I still would have had time before the opening to call my ethanol plant and book the corn. I knew this but let my emotions get involved with my maarketing. Still a great and profitable price but cost me over $4400 today. I normally can shrug this off but this one is really eating at me.
