Subject: Controlling our own destiny

Martinsville, Ohio

This has been discussed for years and a handful of farmers have ventured into enterprises, yes, risky too, where they set their price.  Most of us don't want to go to that extreme and get rewarded fairly by the marketplace and the commodity marketplace is a tough place to  hang your hat since its inception.

I don't ever see it happening unless production finally ends up in the hands of so few that they start calling the shots instead of the other way around.  The fuel based market increases have been exciting to say the least this spring but has done little to alleviate the pain discussed in this thread.

We just returned from the East Coast where the crops look like our record crop here in 04.  By the time we got home you could appreciate how good their crops are and how disappointing some of ours are but that's production for you especially when you depend on Mother Nature for all of your production variables.  She sure throws them at you!

Wish you all well and better crops for 07....
