Subject: RE: HP of John Deere 8760

Pittsburg, Kansas

If memory serves me correctly I think the 70 series have electronicly controlled govenors as did the very last 60 series but not the earlier ones. From conversations with people who have owned both electronic and mechanical governor models (conversation was a long time ago) the electronic governors made the low end, under 1500 rpm torque a lot better (my 8760 mechanical was gutless under 1500 but otherwise a very good tractor) and the engine seemed to have a better overall power curve. I have never run one of the electronically governed models so no first hand experience. Don't know about fuel economy but cant see how one could be enough better that the other to kill a good deal otherwise.
