Subject: What are you paying for?

Colby, Kansas
What Risk?? It sounds like the other places he contacted were not local and were likely going to have no further dealings with Brad, he wasn't taking any risk, he was going to sell it, take his couple of percent and ship it out the door.

The local guy's pricing may have a lot to do with the level of service and support he planned on providing. The margin on this precision ag equipment for the dealer is perty pathetic. Especially if you throw a couple high-maintenance customers into the mix (I'm certainly not implying that Brad is one of those, but they do exist). If you want to bend you local dealer over a barrel and shake every last dime out fine, but then don't become upset when instead of waiving a service call to your farm to calibrate it on a new piece of equipment he sends you a bill for time and materials. As a salesman, I have no problem playing low-ball but it had better be understood thats its a "cash and carry" price, and subsequent service will be billed accordingly.
