| Most tree shears will cut up to about 12" tree. Some have a grapple that will let you grab it as you cut it and move it to pile. Probably best mounted on a med to large skid steer. Works pretty good if you use your head.
A Marshall Tree Saw (google it)will cut a bigger tree. You can probably cut bigger than you want to carry with a skid steer.
I've learned the hard way that you need to move a honey locust to his final resting place immediately after cutting. Even a few days and they shed thorns much worse than fresh cut.
The big ones? I've done a lot of them with chain saw, tractor and a log chain.
Treat stump (generously)with Tordon or Remedy. Be sure to mow annually, or spot spray any regrowth.
Dozer? Without chemicals it just seems to make 'em mad and 10 sprout where you push one out. Learned that the hard way too.
