Subject: Re: Great Grain Robbery 1972

The irony of this huge transaction was the fact the grain industry in those days spent a lot of time and money gathering intelligence thoughout the world. In fact, the top secret Intel. agency (government) frequently, on a regular basis, would liaison with the industry as we usually had better intelligence than did they. In view of all these very smart & shrewd people & because of the secrecy..the russions pulled it off...got rid of a lot of wheat and corn ccc stocks...but I was never privy to the financial results but I heard a lot of stories about the thin margins and in some cases out right losses on this deal...the press made it out as though the grain industry carved a fat hog...the truth as i understand it...was a lot of embarassment in refusal to disclose because little or no money was made on the deal.
