| The cattlemen have been exposed to the big feedlots but luckily those big outfits haven't industrialized cow calf herds. What cattlemen want is what grain producers want. Compensation from the marketplace. I didn't write this farm program. Neither did I lobby for it. There should never be a direct payment to farmers. Nor should there be federal crop insurance. One could argue for deficiency payments in times of low prices. The real explaination for farm expansion is big equipment and chemical herbicides. | |
