E.Central MN | Wow, that sounds like price gouging to me. Are any of the meats higher than they were a few months ago? I don't think so. The ONLY issue that I have heard that is credible is the claim that food shelves are not getting as much of the commodity buying by the govt because prices are above the minimum price levels for milk, cheese, etc. Even that claim ignores the fact that farmers were selling below cost in a lot of cases and in effect were subsidizing the program as much as the govt was. BIL was saying how hard the high milk prices were going to be on young families. The easiest solution to that is a small subsidy to them for purchase of those commodities. So they go thru 4 gallons of milk/wk, just give them milk coupons of $1/gallon = $4/wk. | |
