Subject: RE: That is pure bunk

Any economist or politician that claims the reason for the livestock industry woes, is ethanol doesn't have a clue about what is going on. The tanking of the $ has had more to do with the rally in grain prices since fall than the E plants. The sub prime debacle has way more to do with the current livestock industry problems than the production of ethanol.

One thing that the talking heads never seem to bring up is the amount of feed product that is prduced in ethanol production. How much feed value is being lost when a bushel of corn is turned into ethanol and 30% of that bushel of corn is returned to the livestock producer as a higher value feed product?

Really can't say I feel too sorry for the livestock people crying about the cost of grain. There were opportunities a year ago to lock in feed costs for multiple years, that would have made the current situation a lot more bearable. IMO the worse think that every happened to the livestock industry was the LDP program as it created an artificial low price of grain. Thus giving the livestock producer a poverty mentality about grain values.
