but just stop and think of the bushels that have probally been through that machine did you have a 12 row corn head on a 7720 or 8820 and drive 6mph combining 200 bpa corn I don't think so, so in a given number of hours the machine as handled 1.5 or possiblly even 2 times as many bushels as an older machine would have. And bushels and volume of material passing throught a combine is what wears them out. Dennis SEND


You are still running the same amount of crop through the machine unless you went from multiple combines to one machine. The purpose of the newer, larger machines is to run more crop through the machine in less time but in the end, you still run the same amount of crop through the machine. Keep in mind the size difference in the threshing and cleaning systems of today's machines versus those of the past. The threshing and cleaning systems have been significantly increased in size which is why you can run through more crop through the machine in less time. You are not running more crop through a threshing and cleaning system the size of those from the past.
