Funny how Ted's response kind of stopped everything.  Yes, shields are a pain. And yes, we have removed 1.  It snapped on top of the return elevator on our 2166 and didn't acomplish anything.  And there are two I'd like to remove but can't talk Dad into it on the left side that swing out and I don't see accomplish anything.  But the rest of them are and will be there.

We were installing our first irrigator when the neighbor/landowner stopped by.  He pointed at the PTO shaft shield and told us if he ever stopped and that was off we just lost his ground. And he meant it. I've always admired him for that.  Sometimes you just have to be serious about safety.
