SW MINNESOTA | How often do most guys change hydraulic oil in tractors? Book says 1500 hours my two main tractors that get 500-750 hours per year have been getting changed every two years. Have a couple that only get 250-400 per year and have been doing them every two years also. Filters are always changed yearly on everything. Is this overkill? Dad and grandpa also preached starting year with fresh fluids and I like that theory too just wonder how necessary it is. |

Texas/New Mexico Stateline | I'm kinda the same as you. I don't put that many hrs. per year on, so every 2-3 years I change it. New filters every year no matter the hours. I'm more concerned about moisture in the system than the oil breaking down. Moisture is really really bad for clutch packs and brake linings. |

NW Central Ohio | ..I know guys that change it yearly. I'm a little stubborn, and more than a little thrifty. My tractors get it every 1000 hours, regardless of the amount of time required to get them there. |

North Central Kansas | x2 more oil changes the filter changes when that happens |

South Plains of Texas | Have never changed hydraulic oil. I figure with the hose blowouts and leaks we change it at least once a year. But most of my tractors only have about 10000 hours so who knows. Filters are changed every 300 hours.

central Mi. | For some reason our 150 gal. hyd. oil tank only lasts about 8 months. I don't know where it goes but it might have something to do with our automatic rust prevention and dust suppression system. |

Dennison, IL | Do an oil analysis on it. Hydraulic oil is expensive. The water will evaporate off if you use it in the field. Now if it's just a small tractor that barely gets warmed up, that's a different story. I just sent a sample in. The tractor has 1,800 hrs on it. The results said it was in excellent shape... So I'm going another year. Oil is 7 yrs old.... Change filters they keep it clean. |

Tip of the Thumb of Michigan | I just change it at the recommended interval by hours, no matter how many years it takes. Yearly on the filter. |
