Subject: Hope not to sound too whiny

Had hail like that 3 weeks ago on 50 acres of beans, never had hail damage before to any amount. The beans where just 2-3 leaves out but it beat all the leaves off and broke half the stalks off below the bud. Since that rain storm which we had 1.8 inches outa of, it has rained over 10 inches and I ahve been very lucky fromm that respect, many areas close by receieved that in one day! Can't get back in to replant, lack 100 acres of SRW & 300 acres of beans behind wheat. Have had 3+ inches since yesterday and noon forecasts call for 6-8 inches this afternoon into the night alone. Pumping water off as I type on one farm but it is running back in about 1/3 the rate going out not too mention the rainfall.

This makes 5 years a row (2 years in a row of late wheat harvest and late bean plantings) of overly wet springs/early summers. Tropical weather is the culprit, lived 32 years before we ever had a damaging tropical storm, that was in 1997......since it has been one after another it seems except for 2001. Weather cycles can be fierce and extremes seem to be normal lately.

Best of luck everyone trying to beat a living outa farming this day & time and be thankful if the weather cooperates. Joe
