We had the Roll Rite trap drives installed on both of our Timpte's and our pup this spring. I would have rather had electric tarps, but the traps are ok for our driveover setup. So far.........not impressed. The motors are powerful(well, supposed to be but we'll get to that in a minute) and they were having trouble with guys not stopping them quick enough and bending stuff on the doors etc. So, they developed some switches to stop the motors when the doors got to the end of their run each way. Two switches per motor. We happened to be the first people to get stuck with this setup. Well, first of all, the wiring to the switches was too small to go to the pup, so the stops didn't work there and had to be taken off. On the two big trailers, they keep sticking.......and of course it happens at the worst possible time.......like when the door is open too far. So as grain is piling up, you're trying to get the switch unstuck.

Next big gripe is that the door on our pup opens relatively hard..........but nothing that a guy can't handle. These motors are supposed to be able to apply twice as much torque as a human can........apparently not the motor we got. Either that or we need bigger wiring, because as far as I can tell, that motor is mostly fried. Finally unhooked it the other day. We haven't paid the shop that installed them yet, and if they are going to bill us an extra $800 for the stops then everything WILL be working right before before they get paid.
