| I took up chewing gum when I gave up tobacco. I'm up to about a pack a day of trident. :) Watch out for weight gain. If memory serves correctly, the body uses about 200 calories per day to metabolize tobacco. Burning fewer calories combined with the increased cravings to put all kinds of food in my mouth when I gave up tobacco resulted in a very impressive rate of gain around my mid section. Cutting back on food was almost as hard as giving up tobacco. Now I exercise and eat most of what I want. The cravings for tobacco have never completely gone away (ten years now) and probably never will. The good news is that at one month, the worst is probably behind you. Stay focused. Winning this fight will make you stronger. | |
