SE Michigan | Many retailers will order a truck load or maybe more of a computer built to their specs and it will look like the real thing from the mfg, but it may have either better or lower (most likely lower for price) quality parts inside and the model number will be slightly different than the same looking item from the mfg. So I would have to say be very careful when purchasing any computer from a big box store.
I was well acquainted with a fellow in the computer sales and repair of a mom and pop business and he explained this to a computer club I belonged to at that time. Several of the members checked on this later and reported back that it was very true.
