| I am currently looking into buying a different ripper for this fall. I have been using a JD 510 ripper (disk gang followed by a v-ripper followed by another disk gang) and am satisfied on its ability to bury corn stalk residue, but am not happy with the ridging effect it leaves behind. I have limited experience with the JD 2700 and it seemed to leave the soil fairly level, but would not bury the stalks like I need to. I plant a great deal of narrow row corn on corn acres and with the price structure of the 2007 crop, those acres are going to increase. So with that being said, what is the best fall ripper to bury cornstalks and leave the field somewhat level for next spring. Any color works for me. TIA | |
