Subject: EZG 500 firmware upload problem update

Elkmont, AL
I don't know if anyone has had a problem getting their 500 to recognize their usb flash drive, but I did, as I posted a while back. Well after talking to several people I finally got it figured out. Apparently people who bought the 500 from agleader did not have this trouble since their unit was supplied with the appropriate flash drive, mine is an acutal trimble unit.

At first I bought the sandisk cruzer micro 1GB flash drive just as the book says. Well after countless tries and tinkering I never could get it to work. It would always come up "unable to read". Finally trimble comes back and says they want me to describe the appearance of my usb flashdrive. So I did and they finally said that if it says "Sandisk Cruzer 1GB" on the front instead of "Sandisk Cruzer 1.0GB" it would not work. I figured yeah right, but I went to best buy tonight and looked and finally found one with the appropriate lettering randomly mixed in with the ones that did not. Brought it home tried it and woolah it worked! There is no visual difference in the two except the 1GB vs. 1.0GB, and they are all packaged the same so you may have to search through the rack like I did to find the appropriate one. So long story short I just wanted to give you guys who have not bought one a heads up so you don't waste $25 on a bum USB stick.
