Subject: RE: Value of GPS to agriculture

North Central Iowa

I actually read an article in the latest issue of John Deere's Furrow magazine. Article was called Precision Payoff and ag economists at Kansas State University have developed an Excel spreadsheet that estimates the savings (value) of precision ag technology. It analyzes automatic guidance and control of equipment sizes and with different field shapes. The website to download the free spreadsheet is http://www.agmanager.info/farmmgt/machinery/default.asp#Decision-Making%20Tools. The title of the program is called KSU-GPSguidance. I downloaded it yesterday and plugged in some figures and worked quite well. I plan to use this tool in the precision ag course I teach here, so I would hope your neighbor boy could use this for his class.

Hope this helps!
