Subject: Re: Shrinking exhaust manifold

Too close to Raleigh, NC
ATS makes a 3 piece mainfold for 5.9 Cummins - they are popular on the Dodge CTDs after about 6 or 7 years. The 5.9 in my 96 Dodge has a case of the incredible shrinking manifold but not to the point of the end bolts being interfered with (yet). With the cost of a OEM one-piece replacement being only a few dollars cheaper than an ATS three piece it makes no sense to me to put the same problem back on. A turned up pump = higher EGTs = greater heat stress on the manifold = eventual replacement. I have fought off the desire to tweak the pump due to the auto tranny and the manifold issue but one of these days both are gonna need replacing, anyway.
